What is glamping?
Glamping is a combination of the words glamorous and camping and is a luxurious alternative to camping. Glamping provides an unforgettable experience for all of the right reasons, ensuring you experience a spectacular outdoor escape in complete comfort.
What are the benefits of glamping:
Glamping allows you to take in all that nature has to offer and spend quality time with your companion without all the stress caused by your usual camping experience. Relax in a comfortable double bed and enjoy a hot beverage without the fear that your accommodation for the evening is going to blow away. You can sleep soundly knowing that you are in a secure, cosy structure that not only keeps you nice and warm but also is strong enough to withstand the harsh British gails.
No need to gather firewood or panic about creating a fire, when you glamp you will be provided with a professional gas bbq that lights with a simple turn of the knob and click. So you can savour the enjoyment of cooking on an open fire, boiling a kettle for a hot beverage or roasting a marshmallow without the fear of the fire burning out and leaving you hungry.
Unfortunately in England we experience an abundance of rain and cold weather which poses a threat to an enjoyable outdoor camping experience. But when glamping you can rest assured that no matter what threat the weather poses, it will never ruin your experience. When glamping you are shielded from the rain at all times even when outside your accommodation, with an outdoor kitchen with a roof, toilet facilities in close proximity and awning to cover other outdoor areas.
When camping your enjoyment can be limited to what you pack to bring with you. As glamping is an experience rather than just a standard activity you are provided with a variety of amenities to not only keep you entertained but to also ensure you enjoy a relaxing experience. Removed is the stress of remembering to pack the essentials such as pots and pans and sleeping equipment with the panic of being in the middle of nowhere with no alternatives around you. Instead you have all of your necessary cookery equipment provided in addition to a luxurious and relaxing hot tub and sunlounger area. So why not kick back and relax with a glass of your favourite beverage and enjoy the soothing sounds of nature and stunning sunsets.
Fancy a film? Glamping has you covered! Inside your accommodation there is electricity to charge your devices and a television with freeview television so you have a variety of televised entertainment at your fingertips. You will never truly appreciate the value of something as simple as electricity until you are lost trudging through a muddy field with a dead phone battery and no map. Trust me, it is essential especially when exploring the outdoors. However, do take time to be away from technology during your stay so you can detox and unwind.
On that note, when exploring the outdoors you may find that you get muddy or soaked in the rain, a frustratingly common occurrence in England. When you are soaked through to the bone all you crave is the warm relief of a hot shower or soothing bath. When camping, depending on your chosen camping site there may be communal shower facilities but sometimes you are not always as lucky. As part of glamping’s luxury offering you have a private shower within walking distance to your accommodation where you can chase the cold shivers away with a warm shower and get back to enjoying your experience.
While camping does allow you to be in the heart of nature, sometimes animal encounters may not always be positive. More often than not there is that one bird tweeting loudly all night disturbing your sleep or a loud cow mooing at the sight of dawn abruptly awakening you. Glamping allows you to be on nature’s doorstep without the interruptions to your sleep and overall experience. At most you will hear the sound of local sheep baaing at supper time in the evening which is considered to be a soothing sound to some.
Why should I try glamping?
Now if you are a camper you may be thinking that you will not get the opportunity and chance to show off your survival skills to your companions by building a fire. The hardest part about building a successful fire (other than ignoring the stares of the onlooking audience) is the harsh elements trying to limit your success. Whether it is the case that the wood is simply too wet, the gailing wind putting out your attempts or the worst case scenario – you forgot your lighting equipment – it can become quite a taxing task. When glamping your fire is inside your pod in an enclosed fireplace with all the necessary fire building materials to maximise your success. Now you do not have to compete with the elements or the stress of figuring out that your equipment is at home and not in your packing, all you now have to deal with is the possible performance anxiety of building the fire in front of your audience.
When camping more often than not you usually go in a group with either family or friends which allows for quality time with the ones you care for most. However, when trying to have some one-on-one time with that special someone it may not be favourable. You can set the perfect scene with a hot chocolate and cosy blanket watching the sunset arm in arm alone in peace until it is quickly interrupted by a third, fourth and fifth wheel who decide they would like to join in too. Glamping is only for two means that you have the opportunity to escape from family life and spend some quality time together, alone with no intrusions. You have plenty of opportunities to enjoy a romantic experience, whether it is enjoying a calm nature walk or relaxing in your luxury hot tub with some music on or a film and your favourite beverage. It may be even something as simple as preparing a meal together that is just for you two to savour without having to prepare food for anyone else. Glamping provides you with your own bubble of peace and quiet to ensure all the time you spend at your escape is quality time together.
After a relaxing nature walk you may not feel up to preparing your own food and just want to wind down and kick your feet up. One of the disadvantages of camping is that you tend to be in the middle of nowhere to truly enjoy a rural escape, meaning that your only dining option is to prepare your own food. However, one of the many benefits of glamping is that there is a restaurant onsite that can prepare food for you to enjoy a low effort romantic meal for two. At Redhill Holidays we have our very own onsite pub that serves up local cider, delicious desserts, stonebaked pizzas and ploughmans boards. If you have a busy family life back home this is the ideal opportunity to spend some quiet time with your special someone and enjoy a meal that you do not have to cook. As glamping resorts are adults only your little ones unfortunately cannot join you but it does mean that you can enjoy a child-free escape without any interruptions to help you to relax and reset.
